The People Behind the Famous Bushman Farms

Michael, George, and Lewis Bushman and Family

Reverend Michael Bushman was not closely related to George Bushman’s family nor even of the same faith.

The wives of George Bushman, Mary Kepner and Anna Wolf, were strong-minded women who provided the backbone of the George Bushman farm.

George Bushman’s farm became famous for being a prominent field hospital of the Twelfth Corps. George himself was a well-known farmer and merchant.

Lewis Bushman followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a prominent farmer, law enforcement officer, and merchant. But tragedy followed both him and his son George (pictured above).
