Very little has been documented about how the Underground Railroad operated, but we do know some of the key sites that Basil Biggs and others used. We also know what farm he was living on when the battle started (not the same farm you will find on the Taneytown Road in the military park–the Biggs moved there after the battle). The Biggs were active supporters and participants in the AME Church. The Lincoln Cemetery remains one of Basil’s lasting legacies.
